I.INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND

            English have many kinds such as: listening, speaking, reading, writing.
In writing have many kinds such as: discussion text, narrative text, report text, etc and the theme about discussion text.

DISCUSSION TEXT

IDENTIFICATION PROBLEM

            In our opinion, we find many student in capable difficult to write discussion text.


PROBLEM


v  Students hard to make an opinion
v  Students difficulties in vocabulary
v  Students difficulties in formulating sentences


PURPOSE


Our purposes in this paper are:
v  Students can give argument for and argument against
v  Students can create a outline for writing discussion text


















II. REVIEW LITERRATURE


A.     THEORITIES.

·        Discussion text is to discuss about something at last to point of view

·        Discussion text is a process of a finding a common ground between the two thoughts, ideas or opinions different.

·        Discussion text as a text which contains about a problematic discourse.

·        Mentioned in Merriam learner – Webster Dictionary, that the word has two meaning discussions.

First: the act of talking something with another person or a group of people         (a conversation about something).

Second: a speech or piece of writing that gives information, ideas, opinion, etc   about something.

Discussion understanding of both the above, second meaning is more suitable with discussion text.  To conclude, meaning of a text either spoken, written information, ideas opinions about something


B.     INDICATOR.

·        Students can provide two different views.

·        Students can create a paragraph that contains problem














III. METHODOLOGY

A.     TECNIQUE FOR ANALYSIS

In the discussion of the text, there are four linguistic structure that is visible fro the main idea each paragraph in the discussion of the text as the text forming material that is:

1.      Issue.
Issue lies in the paragraph that contains placement problems or issues to be discussed


2.      Supporting points
In this section, the author presents argument for the issue. In each paragraph supporting point consists of two components including the main idea of the paragraph and elaboration or description and the main idea of paragraph.


3.      Contrasting points.
In this section, the author presents arguments against the issue of problem. As in paragraph supporting point, contrasting point also present two components forming the main idea of the paragraph and elaboration or description of the main idea of the paragraph.


4.      Conclusion
In this section, the author presents the conclusion or it could be recommended from an issue or issues that have been discussed above.



















Example:
THE ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE OF POWER NUCLEAR

o   Issue.
Nuclear power is generates by using uranium which is a metal in various part of the world. The first large scale of nuclear power station was opened at calder hall in cumbia, England in 1956.


o   Supporting points

Some military ships and submarines have nuclear power plant for engine. Nuclear power produces around 11% of the world’s energy needed, and produces huge amounts of energy. It causes no pollution as we would get when burning fossil fuels. The advantages of nuclear plant are as follow:

1.      It costs about the same coal, so it is not expensive to make.
2.      It does not produce smoke or carbon dioxide, so it does not contribute to the green house effect.
3.      It produces huge amount of energy from small amount of Uranium.
4.      It produces small amount of waste.


o   Contrasting points

On the other hand, nuclear power is very dangerous. It must be sesled up and bursed for many years to allow he radioactivity to die away. Furthermore, although it is relishle, a lot of money has to be spenton safety because if it does growing, a nuclear accident can be major accident.


o   Conclusion

People are increasing concerned about this matter, in the 1990’s nuclear power was the fastest growing source of power in many parts of the world.
